We’ve mentioned before how the holiday season is a busy time for us. We are always on the go with our families and we tend to forget to take a breather every now and then. When we stop what we are doing and focus on our breathing in the moment, we are able to relax ourselves and refocus. Our children can also become overwhelmed with all the social events and holiday festivities. If you see that your child is starting to feel anxious and overwhelmed, take them someplace quiet to do the back-to-back breathing exercise. To do the exercise:

  • In a comfortable position, sit with your back against your child’s back.
  • Ask your child to feel how the breath moves in and out of the body.
  • Encourage your child to feel your breath becoming synchronized.
  • Count in and out for 5 breaths.
