Welcome to the first post of the OKPTA’s Prevention and Safety Committee! Every day of the week we will work together to cultivate a different practice. Mondays we will focus on HOPE.

We can’t think of a better way to start our journey together because there is HOPE for our children. We all know the data about what our kids face when it comes to depression, anxiety, bullying, suicide, dating violence, stress, ACEs, and more! We are becoming very trauma-informed as a society. While it is so necessary to identify problems in order to solve them, it can also be extremely overwhelming. Once we are trauma-informed, how do we become resilience-informed? In other words, what do we do to set kids up for success once we recognize their daunting challenges.

The HOPE is that we now have decades of research and evidence about what works to set children up for success. The only difficulty is that no one ever teaches us these skills as parents. That is where this site comes in! The OKPTA Prevention and Safety Committee is made up of behavioral health and prevention professionals working through the PTA to empower parents with this information in quick, digestible daily posts. Join us on this journey!

If you or someone you love is experiencing a crisis, seek help by calling the Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
